The fourth edition of the fashion trade show Selvedge Run took place in the Kulturbrauerei last month during Berlin Fashion Week. Exhibiting brands, shops and industry-insiders gathered to celebrate and preview the new Fall/Winter 2018 collections of some of the best high-quality menswear and lifestyle labels.

Its fourth edition was, as many of the guests noted, the biggest so far and spread over three additional new halls in the Kulturbrauerei. The brand catalogue included over 100 labels: some of them newcomers, such as Rising Sun & Co., Converse, Hansen, Iron and Resin and Lavenham, while other important brands such as Blue de Gênes, Merz b Schwanen, Stetson and Edwin made a comeback.

One new segment made an appearance at this show – the Makers Yard, a lifestyle concept hall with five different areas – Home, Outdoor, Mobility, Men’s Grooming und Food. The warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the twenty-three brands in the space was complemented by The Makers Yard Coffee – a limited edition Whiskey Barrel Aged Espresso, a collaboration between the Berlin-based Flying Roasters, Bulleit Bourbon and Selvedge Run.

Selvedge Run attracted more visitors than ever this year – from Europe, Asia and North America. Distribution: 43% Germany, 12% France & BeNeLux, 11% Scandinavia, 8% Austria and Switzerland, 7% Southern & Eastern Europe, 7% UK & Ireland, 5% North America, 7% Asia. Buyers from important department stores, such as Galleries Lafayette, Peek & Cloppenburg, Alsterhaus and KaDeWe, along with shops like Conleys, Trüffelschwein, Sear’s, Unionville, Thomas I Punkt and many more were noticeably involved in business talks with labels. “We received more orders than ever!” said Gianluigi from Captain Santors, an Italian label for sailor-inspired clothing. That was the overall mood at the fair indeed.

This winter edition of Selvedge Run was admittedly the most successful one until now. As Shane Brandenburg, one of the show’s founders said: “Selvedge Run has grown significantly and it has been our best show yet.  That makes us very happy, because we aim to be the leaders in our market in Europe”. This show also further contributed to establishing Berlin as a high-quality menswear capital and attracted more fashion professionals to the city. The next trade show will happen this summer from July 4-6 2017, again in Berlin’s  Kulturbrauerei. We are already excited…
